In terms of alphabetical taxonomies in the English language, the letter Z feels like the end, like mining the obscure and exotic recesses of the final letter of the Alphabet. If this blog had not been made alphabetically I probably would not have included anything beginning with the letter Z. My mother’s maiden name is Zmija (змѝја). Had I adopted this as my second name rather than my father’s Scottish name ‘Nicolson’, perhaps my position would have been read slightly differently, from outside the heritage of the roman alphabet.

Žižek

‘What can we learn from all this? Today we have a multiple of perspectives rather than a universal truth. The previously posed question ‘could that be true?’ has to be reframed in a more appropriate way, asking ourselves under what conditions this can be true (Zizek 2002).’ Aesthetic Journalism pp. 72.

Personally, I have not yet read anything directly written by Zizek,  although I have heard and seen him being frequently referred to in art contexts.

Here are some videos of him talking that I found on Youtube, watching him talk has made me want read some of his texts.

Codex Zographensis

The Codex Zographensis is an important document due to its use of Glagolithic script, the oldest recorded Slavic Alphabet.
